What if...

I was recently reading a biography of a successful American businessman. This person’s story was, as is often the case, filled with ups and downs, early energy out of the gate, followed by significant setbacks and multiple failures. But through it all, they persistent and perpetually asked themselves, “what would happen if we achieved our ‘what ifs’….?”  

We all have some what ifs that we’ve thought about. What if…today you intentionally worked on one of your what ifs? Just take one, and make it your goal to work on it today. Here are ten What ifs that might help get you started:

What if you spent more time with your children

What if you worked today like the best employee in the company

What if you attacked your studies without distractions

What if you started trying to impress your spouse like you were dating again

What if you took steps to improve your health

What if you made a choice to stop spending extra money

What if you called that friend or family member

What if you forgave

What if you chose joy today

What if you put a deposit on that dream vacation

My wife and I were reminded of God’s greatness this past weekend. We were reminded that God is a God who loves to meet and exceed the hopes and dreams that are rooted in our faith. He isn’t bound by convention, money, time or hindered by stubbornness, bad weather or mighty kings! He is wholly outside of it all, and when we commit our path to Him, “He can do anything you know, far more than you could ever imagine, guess or request in your wildest dreams” (Eph 3:20).

He is a God of What Ifs. Will you step out today?
