Lift Your Head!

Traci

"I keep waiting to hear what you are going to do next!" These words were said to me with eager anticipation. My friend is waiting for my next extraordinary adventure. I have shared many of my dreams with this friend and after not seeing her for several months, she was ready for the next thing to be in motion. This came on a night when my heart was weary of the fight. The belief in my head and the feeling in my heart were not in alignment. I was feeling once again like God doesn't see, doesn't care, and is not going to respond. These few words by my friend reminded me that the fight is worth it. It isn't over. The battle is not done. There is still work to be done and my faith must be renewed and bolstered in order to stay in the fight.

It aint over yet!
Those words have been powerful to me over the last six months, but I momentarily forgot the message and began to feel defeated by the oppression of the devil. That is not ok! Toby Mac says it well in his song "Move":

"Another heartbreak day
Feels like you're miles away
Don't even need no shade
When your sun don't shine, shine
Too many passing' dreams
Roll by like limousines
It's hard to keep believing'
When they pass you by and by
I know your heart been broke again
I know your prayers ain't been answered yet
I know you're feeling like you got nothing left
Well, lift your head, it ain't over yet, ain't over yet so
Move, keep walking' soldier keep moving' on
Move, keep walking' until the morning' comes
Move, keep walking' soldier keep moving' on
And lift your head, it ain't over yet, ain't over yet
Echoin' inside your head
Are the words that your sweet momma said,
"shoot for the moon, my dear"
So you took aim out of this atmosphere
Between high stakes and pump fakes
You're feelin' like you can't buy a break
I can hold your hand, but I can't turn your eyes to freedom
I know your heart been broke again
I know your prayers ain't been answered yet
I know you're feeling like you got nothing left
Well, lift your head, it ain't over yet, ain't over yet so
Move, keep walking' soldier keep moving' on
Move, keep walking' until the morning' comes
Move, keep walking' soldier keep moving' on
And lift your head, it ain't over yet, ain't over yet
Hold on, hold on
Lord ain't finished yet
Hold on, hold on
He'll get you through this
Hold on, hold on
these are the promises
I never will forget
I never will forget  THAT'S HIS PROMISE, I will never leave you or forsake you!
I know your heart been broke again
I know your prayers ain't been answered yet
it ain't over yet, ain't over yet so
Move, keep walking' soldier keep moving' on
Move, keep walking' until the morning' comes
Move, keep walking' soldier keep moving' on
And lift your head, it ain't over yet, ain't over yet . . . "

These words and this music are so powerful in reminding me to keep going. This is not the end. Jesus wins! He wins and holds the victory; therefore I can face these days and these challenges with confidence and surety that victory is certain. I don't need to fear this life or what man can do to me because Jesus has overcome the world. Even the IRS. Even the places where I can't pay the bills. Even the people who try to hinder or halt the dreams God has placed within me. The unbelievers and the believers alike. Even myself!

God is victorious. I can trust Him. I can rest in Him. And I can go after the things he puts before me without fear because failure and disappointment in this life are just temporary sufferings. The pursuit of God and His kingdom work is worth every ounce of my energy and every ounce of my time. Even if they don't work out how I think or how I plan or maybe even how they should. I don't need to worry about that. I must keep my eyes and my focus on Jesus. I must "Move", keep walking, keep moving because it ain't over yet. And even if my life ends and I didn't see the fulfillment of my dreams as I thought I should, there is more to this life and there is more beyond this life. I must live this life to the fullest and BE-come all of who God wants me to BE - not just for what I get to do in this life but also for the life to come! And thats worth every effort possible.
